Video musicale girato solo con il cellulare

Reuters aveva una notizia interessante un paio di giorni fa, che Vi volevo segnalare.

Una band americana avrebbe girato il proprio video musicale usando solo dei cellulari.

Non ho visto il video e non so dare una valutazione del risultato complessivo, ma tecnicamente è interessante e come idea promozionale è decisamente originale.

Se siete interessati al VOIP, Joi riassume molto bene la situazione, parlando di un nuovo prodotto in cui è personalmente coinvolto.

Molto interessanti sono i punti che mette in evidenza per una buona applicazione di VOIP:

1 - Easy to use
2 - Open standard
3 - NOT a service model (no monthly fee)

Ora che anche in Italia si parla di voip grazie a Skype ci si può finalmente addentrare nel merito dei prodotti (e ad esempio far notare che proprio Skype ha una serie di limitazioni e problematiche che bisogna considerare >> standard chiusi, occupazione di banda).

Opera integra un client bittorrent

Il browser Opera ha sempre presentato grandi innovazioni, basti pensare che è stato uno dei primi a presentare un client di posta che non utilizzasse la struttura a cartelle, ma a label - un anticipo di Folksonomy.
La nuova TP (Tech Preview) di Opera 8.02 conferma questa tesi, integrando all'interno del browser un client BitTorrent. Questo avvicina ulteriormente il browser all'utenza che fa largo uso delle ultime innovazioni in campo di grassroots publishing e via dicendo: Opera integra già un valido e intuitivo aggregatore di Feed (supporto per RSS1/2 e Atom), l'apporto di una tecnologia di P2P può essere molto importante, soprattutto perché consente di usufruire direttamente dei contenuti senza l'aggiunta di applicativi esterni. Ora resta da capire a che livello arrivi tale integrazione - appena possibile lo installerò e vi farò sapere di più.
Nel frattempo, se venite tentati da questa nuova versione, ricordate che si tratta di una versione ancora in fase di Beta, quindi non si garantisce il funzionamento e soprattutto la stabilità. Utente avvisato...

In arrivo Ninjam lo Skype per musicisti

Dall'inventore di Winamp è in arrivo Ninjam "Skype for musicians".
Da quanto si intuisce permetterà di suonare insieme via internet.

Potenzialmente dirompente, staremo a vedere la realizzazione pratica.

Questo signore insieme ai Downhill battle, sta facendo una rivoluzione.

Questi ragazzi stanno di fatto semplificando il modo di distribuire contenuti via Internet (= stanno rivoluzionando il settore televisivo, cinematografico, radiofonico, basta?).

Ne abbiamo già parlato spesso, ad esempio a proposito di Broadcast Machine.

Qui sotto trovate l'intervista appena fatta dal noto videoblogger Garfield (dura circa mezz'ora).
Ne consiglio vivamente la visione.

Fare Matrix con 80.000 $ ?

Ok, probabilmente non è proprio come Matrix ma se guardate il trailer di questo film e pensate che è stato girato da 2 ragazzi volenterosi (per un costo complessivo di appena 80.000 $) allora fa riflettere.

L'aspetto che mi ha più interessato dell'iintervista è che hanno deciso di usare sempre il chroma key (= sfondi verdi o blu da bucare per fare effetti speciali); in questo modo l'ambiente è sempre quello e l'occhio dello spettatore, dopo un pò, non percepisce più la differenza tra effetti speciali e realtà. Interessante.

"Imagine a film that involves complex scenes; blowing up elaborate sets, Harrier jets flying inside the NYC subway system, fast car chases and spectacular crashes on the freeway and of course, a couple dramatic gun battles. This is the staple of your average, modern action film. Most would probably cost tens of millions of dollars to produce.

Today, armed with little more than green screens, a few scene props and an incredibly small budget, it is possible to create an action flick that will look 90% as good as the big million dollar productions. " Well, five years ago, geeks pretty much kept to themselves. They'd be sitting in IRC chat, or arguing about Unix vs. Linux, but it didn't spread very fast and it didn't influence the rest of the world outside the tech community.

Today, though, the Net is far more robust and far more ubiquitous than it used to be. And it's bloggers who are setting the agenda on everything from politics to culture. It's bloggers that journalists and politicians look to as the first and the loudest.

As a result, your most-connected, most influential customers are part of the digerati. They can make or break your product, your service or even your religion's new policies. Because the Net is now a broadcast (and a narrowcast) medium, the digerati can spread ideas.

Iam: grande fratello/video blog/personal TV sul web

Un cyber esperimento di grande fratello che prevede una telecamerina attaccata a un orecchio con trasmissione sul sito web delle giornata di questo ragazzo.

The iam system creates an hybrid of personal television's reality show and scripted drama to be shared with other people. Being able to watch a piece that is not only shot in real-time but is also continuously being produced, is impossible. And trying to edit this much video is a formidable task.

Cellphedia

Interessante iniziativa di un laureando americano (se non ho capito male è il progetto della sua tesi).

Una sorta di Wikipedia mobile organizzata per gruppi di interesse, fatta tutta via sms.

Il 7 maggio faranno anche una presentazione in streaming che si può vedere qui.

L'Italia è la patria della videotelefonia, fissa e mobile

Non paghi di essere tra i paesi a maggiore penetrazione di telefonini, gli italiani hanno un altro primato nella comunicazione: il video. Il blog americano E-Media Tidbits fornisce alcuni numeri, purtroppo non precisi. Non aggiornata la cifra di un milione di videotelefoni mobili: 3 ha superato recentemente i 3,6 milioni di clienti. A Telecom Italia vengono attribuiti 1,9 milioni di apparecchi per videochiamare dalla linea fissa. Ammesso che sia vero, la rete è piena di messaggi di clienti che segnalano l'impossibilità di usarli a causa di malfunzionamenti.

La vera notizia è invece la segnalazione della possibilità da parte dei telespettatori italiani di intervenire in una trasmissione televisiva in diretta attraverso il videotelefono. Uno Mattina, dal 27 aprile scorso, permette di chiamare e commentare i fatti del giorno, grazie a questa tecnologia.

Le tecnologie che stanno rivoluzionando la Musica

Che rivoluzione sta avvenendo nel settore musicale !

La mia opinione è che le Major si siano concentrate a tal punto sul file sharing, sul download illegale di musica, da perdere di vista le evoluzioni che stanno avvenendo- senza di loro - ad una velocità senza precedenti.

Se mi aiutate, volevo elencare alcuni dei siti, software e tecnologie più innovativi/interessanti/particolari del settore musicale.

Audioscrobbler (me l'aveva segnalato Faber qualche tempo fa)
Audioscrobbler builds a profile of your musical taste using a plugin for your media player (Winamp, iTunes, XMMS etc..). Plugins send the name of every song you play to the Audioscrobbler server, which updates your musical profile with the new song. Every person with a plugin has their own page on this site which shows their listening statistics. The system automatically matches you to people with a similar music taste, and generates personalised recommendations.

Freesound
The Freesound Project aims to create a huge collaborative database of audio snippets, samples, recordings, bleeps, ... released under the Creative Commons Sampling Plus License. The Freesound Project provides new and interesting ways of accessing these samples, allowing users to

• browse the sounds in new ways using keywords, a "sounds-like" type of browsing and more
• up and download sounds to and from the database, under the same creative commons license
• interact with fellow sound-artists!

Google maps sempre più popolare

Da noi non è ancora molto diffuso, principalmente perché la necessità per cui è stato creato al momento non viene ancora soddisfatta per chi sta fuori dal Nord America.

Sto parlando di Google Maps. Il servizio fornisce indicazioni stradali un po' come fanno già altri siti tipo Virgilio Mappe - Tuttocittà o Map24, mescolando però le due tecnologie.

Il primo ha il vantaggio di avere una certa leggerezza (in quanto non fa uso di applet java o plugin), ma pecca di eccessiva staticità; il secondo colma tale lacuna, ma con l'uso di un'applet java che - seppur molto valida - appesantisce la navigazione, soprattutto per l'utente occasionale. Ecco quindi che google maps viene in nostro aiuto, con l'utilizzo di una tecnologia che non necessita d'alcun plugin e che, vedrete, è caratterizzato da una leggerezza e velocità disarmante. E non è tutto.

Da qualche tempo, in collaborazione con Digital Globe, è anche possibile vedere la corrispettiva immagine via satellite, con un dettaglio impressionante.
Da questo servizio sono nate molte piccole chicche, potete vedere alcune cose caratteristiche nel relativo post sul blog ufficiale di Google, tra cui un cimitero di aerei militari in disarmo, enormi scritte nelle coltivazioni o la Casa Bianca.

Come dicevo, al momento funziona soltanto per USA e Canada, ma ovviamente c'è da aspettarsi che l'estensione al globo intero si faccia vedere relativamente a breve.

Già che siamo in tema, vi pongo un piccolo quiz.

Chi di voi sa spiegarmi cosa siano questi enormi cerchi (ingrandite e vedrete la proporzione con delle auto parcheggiate nei paraggi), sparsi su tutto il territorio nei dintorni di Roswell, New Mexico (ovvero dove si presume vi fu un atterraggio di alieni circa 50 anni fa)? ;)

Ajax

Sento sempre più parlare di Ajax, insieme di tecnologie che dovrebbero portare ad un livello superiore lo sviluppo di applicazioni web.
